Environment
Many of BGM's activities benefit the environment such as providing toilets and clean drinking water. In addition to these BGM has promoted worm composting and given environmental awareness talks.
Worm composting
Worm composting is a proven way to quickly turn biodegradable waste into high quality compost. It means that chemical fertilisers which are damaging to the environment and costly are not needed. BGM helps with the cost of building a composting pit (from concrete) into which waste is thrown. Worms in the composter munch their way through the waste and their excrement is used by the villagers as compost.
Environmental awareness talks
BGM has organised fifteen environmental awareness talks to create awareness about environment protection activities. Topics of discussion have included the need for clean water resources; solid waste management through worm composting; how to convert solid waste into bio-gas and protection of trees and natural water resources.
